Yeah, predictable...maybe I'll slice it. Isn't that the point of patchwork?

Blind Sketch on Fabric, 3
Black stitching and a few extra lines have been added to the coffee pot...hmmm. It looks rather predictable to me. More stitching required. Maybe some other colors. Yellows, oranges? Warm it up a bit?

Blind Sketch on Fabric, 2
A permanent marker, medium tip, worked well for the blind sketch.
Ok, I cheated, I peeked twice.
But, of course, this will not suffice. The stitched line is so much more interesting.

Blind Sketch on Fabric, 1
A blind sketch on fabric, that's what I need for a bit of excitement. So, after Sketch Club, I put the set of copper pieces from my collection on the dining table and glued fabric to a piece of paper for my textile sketchbook/journal.
Then I found some coppery colors and cut out vague shapes that were glued onto the page. Man, I love my stash...

Rockin' Bibi, 3
Bibi's been into more trouble. He meowed outside the bathroom door so I opened it for him...not thinking of why he would want to go in. It turns out that the toilet paper roll is one of his favorite toys. Yes, he loves to shred toilet paper.
Observe the guilty look...

Despite his interference, I managed to get some stitching done.
The wild lines of the patchwork may be due to Led Zeplin turned on full blast.
Bibi huffed out again--he doesn't seem to appreciate loud rock music.

Attention to Detail
At Sketch Club this week I got serious about detail when I pulled out several pieces from my copper collection. The copper reflects light in such a lovely way. Paying close attention made me appreciate the craftsmanship and design of these pieces.
Memory stirring...someplace way back when, I knew how to do this better and faster, I had more skill.
However, having lived life since then, I now much prefer looser, wilder lines. Wait! Wait! I've got to try a blind sketch on fabric!

Rockin' Bibi, 1
While I attempted to sew on the Pomegranate Tree, Bibi decided to install himself on top of it under the warmth of the light...and fell asleep.
Quick, pencil and paper, no! pencil and fabric...
As he was sitting on patchwork, I grabbed my small-scrap bag that hangs right next to the machine...man, do I love my scrap bag.
Wait! Wait! Loud rock music required! How about Led Zeplin?
The cat left (in a huff) but I'm zoomin'!

Lemon Wonderland
It's supposed to be vacation--hmphffff. The lemon crop awaits picking, everyday.
And yet, the fruit is wonderful, large, ripe, and it smells so good. I've always shied away from yellow, however, it's growing on me. That crisp combination of yellow, green and blue.
I haven't been so physically fit in years...

Oddball Logcabin, 4
Last night, I turned on some classic rock music (are you kiddin' me? How could rock be classic? When did this happen?) with a driving beat and cranked up to full-blast. And then the scissors flew and snippets filled the air.
I stitched down the left side and got rid of the annoying pins. Admittedly, the pins held it together long enough for me to arrange the bits. Sideways gives a different look.
Trying out some excessive fraying, a sort of blending of threads.
Lucky I live in a rural area--tonight I'll put on the pounding rock music again...
Linked to Nina Marie's "Off the Wall Friday."

Oddball Logcabin, 3
On my work table...a mess!
My fabric collection dazzles me--so many greens (all from used clothing).
And this is just a small sampling. I've been reflecting on all the varieties of green that range from yellow to blue to gray.

A Pinecone
Too cold to sit outside, so Sketch Club has been inside for awhile.
A large pinecone provided a geometrical study of pattern. Nature is so mathematical...

The Beefeater
I don't even know what a Beefeater is, however I inherited a small Toby Jug from my mom who loved all things British (well, maybe not the Beatles and the Rolling Stones). The beginnings of a sketch:
To sketch means to look carefully, learn structure and appreciate detail. The craftsmanship on this 3" mug pleases me immensely...and one can see a certain sense of humor. The idea of Toby Jugs tickles my funny bone--I mean, drinking out of a head? Maybe I'll draw some others...

Oddball Logcabin
As usual, I got myself into a mess. Inspired by my tiny "Rainbow" (instruction manual) sketchbook,
I'm constructing a Textile Sketchbook page and working in the abstract.
But in the end, it could be an oddball logcabin. I thought I could glue it all down first before stitching, but then good old-fashioned pins seemed the better solution for getting it all together. No idea what I'm doing...as usual. However, I'm looking forward to some interesting machine stitching. I even dreamed about the colors of threads and the lines I would make with the machine!

Burgundy & Blue, 4
Zooming along with the tortoise (he won, or was it a she?).
I can see the end in sight for this side of the tunic/blouse.
Haven't had a finish in a l-o-n-g while...

Sketch Club Meets Art Quilt
Don't know why, but, some of the multicolored snippets of my life seem to be intersecting. Sketch Club meets Art Quilt, or something of the sort. I photocopied a page that I liked from my sketch book.
It has to do with the interesting lines. I like those lines, I want to see those lines in fabric...
Maybe a threesome? I also like the spiral marks of the notebook.
Thinking about how to proceed. Build a patchwork base, then put the photocopy on the back and machine stitch over the lines. The bobbin thread would be on the right side.
Could I challenge myself to work fast? Spring break will be here in two weeks...
