Jeans Mama, 4

Stitching madly into the night...I'd say "at the speed of light", but, we all know this is a s-l-o-w business. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, all the same.

If another hole pops up in the nice big empty spot, it will have to get some patching in orange and red, I'm thinking.

Jeans Mama, 3

Evening stitching. This is fairly rapid for me as the area to cover is relatively small...but, then again, it could grow.

Jeans Mama, 2

Then the white threads of the jeans rip needed couching. They developed their own pattern...

Jeans Mama, 1

First there was the hole in the knee of the jeans to patch.

Then the fabrics volunteered enthusiastically.

And so, I spent a pleasant evening stitching.

No idea how this will turn out, as usual. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm not supposed to be starting anything new. I'll get back to the Pomegranate Tree tonight. This is just a short vacation, a small adventure...

Recycling T-shirts

The humble t-shirt is such a common article of clothing, but, what happens when it begins to wear? The dumpster? Landfill? I recycle men's t-shirts into very comfortable PJs. Just sew the two bottom edges together and cut off the neck, and arms at one end. In Tunisia's warm climate, I'm not looking for elegance, but comfortable cotton...

Finish Line in Sight

Yes, the finish line is in sight and I now have a new item of summer clothing from an old one. The colors bring back memories of summer. This has been an easy project to do with only one color to work with and no tangles.

Doodling & a Spot, 4

More evening stitching on my cotton vest with a spot. After picking lemons most of the day. I love lemons, I love stitching--life is good. I don't even mind the 90° heat.

Doodling & a Spot, 3

Stitching before collapsing into bed at night. Work in the orchards is giving me a total workout...feelin' good.

Doodling & a Spot, 2

Stitching late at night. This is a fun project because of all the possibilities of shapes.

Possibly a Finish

Spring vacation has been productive. Just some circles to sew onto this wild tunic.

I have been reflecting on this piece and its future. It may undergo further transformations...hmmm, yes, into something else.

Something like "She Ran Out of Time."

We shall see...time is slipping by...

Zooming Along, 3

Just a few more holes to sew.

I'm hesitating about adding stitching...

Zooming Along, 2

Almost a finish: my rather old and rather drab bag (began here) now sings to me with its new wild appliqué.
I'll finish this side within a week's time--very fast for me. Now there's the other side...and then some stitching.

Linked to Nina Marie's "Off the Wall Friday".

Zooming Along

The sizzling temperatures force me to stay inside and so I'm just zooming along. Well, for me this is fast.

The appliqué is temporarily finished. I'm rather liking the circular movement in blue on the right. Pure hazard.

I'll add a bit more to balance the design. Then on to stitching. So many possibilities for stitching.

Galloping Along

Galloping along, or at least that's what it feels like. The 100+ temperatures are normal for mid-August and a good excuse to move only the fingers while glued to the AC.

I just love this bag for the memories of traveling and for its usefulness. I'm liking it even more with the appliqué.

Rethinking My Bag, 2

This stitching seems to be going faster than usual. Of course, it's a bit simpler, fewer colors than usual.

When I work on it, I remember how useful it has been, how comfortable to carry around. I'm thinking that if it should wear out, I'll have to make it into a wall-hanging...

Rethinking My Bag

Back in the time when I was throwing acrylic paint at fabric, I made this bag. The straps go clear around the bottom so that I can put weighty things in it with no problem. There are a couple of pockets sewn into the lining as well.

It went traveling with me this summer after I had added a zipper to the top. And it was perfect: light, useful, easy to sling over the shoulder.

However, I've always thought that it was sort of blah. The colors are a bit too subtle for me. And then I noticed a small hole...
Ok, ok, I know--I'm not supposed to be starting anything new, but, I just wanted to play a bit.

Now, I'm jazzed!

Another Sirocco and Still Inching Along

The hot weather forces me to sit and stitch--not a bad thing, all in all. So I seem to be making some progress. There is even the possibility of finishing this part.

Inching Along in a Sirocco

A Sirocco blew in (hot desert wind) from the South. If only my fingers have to move, I'm good. Inching along, as usual...
I might manage to finish this part if I have to remain glued to the A/C.

Soaring Temperatures

As temperatures head for 110 F., I sit glued to the AC and happily stitch away. I've come back to this tunic, thinking I might be able to finish it. I haven't been able to do needle turn appliqué for awhile and I miss it.

I've been thinking that I may never wear this (pretty wild, after all), however, it is becoming something else...an idea is taking over.

Plugged In Again

We were unplugged for 6 days, and I suppose it is good to be unplugged occasionally to keep perspective, however, so much is done by internet these days including professional activities. So it was stressful as well.

It's like anything else: it's good to be unplugged if you choose.

In any case, I laid out more fabrics on my tunic to balance out the design. What ever made me think I was close to the end?
