I can't tell you how pleasing and delightful this addition is. I see no reason to add stitch, but then again, I've thought that only to be proven wrong!
It does indeed give a floral/organic touch to the rather geometric background of the bag. Lovely! I'm not sure more stitch is needed, but that may be difficult to tell just looking at a photo. You've the bag in front of you, so you know best. :-)
