Thankfully, my stitching keeps me calm despite the bumps in the road of life in Tunisia. I've been picking up my needle often as elections approach--there's a lot at stake. Last night I dreamt that I returned to the States with only one suitcase in hand. Fortunately, I don't experience prophetic dreams; it' just anxiety rising to the surface.
The rings for the strap are now installed...top zipper is next.

Could you sew on the rings without breaking needles? Then you are lucky. A very, very beautiful bag! I love your work, the applique!

Thanks, Jude, Anneliese, and Els. I haven't broken any machine needles on this project yet, but I use a very large one (16 or 18) and go slowly.
I'm sorry for not keeping up with your project.....it is looking very good. You must have the patience of a saint to do this.
Hoping your anxiety is eased soon, and your part of the world settles down.
What a great bag, it will be so much fun to use. I think of you when I hear news from your part of the world, I hope the anxiety eases.
I havn't checked this blog in a while and wow! you never cease to amaze me. You are right about the plaid bringing more interest to it. Was it hard to sew thru the denim?
Thanks, Norma. Fortunately, the denim has been relatively easy to sew upon as I'm only picking up the very top threads--I rarely go to the back of the fabric. I may be using denim more frequently in this type of work because I really like the softness of the color, the blue and white...besides the fact that I have a huge stack of old jeans that I can't bear to part with.
