Getting close to the end of stitching the pomegranates, however the leaves remain and more outlining.
This one is a branch towards the top of the tree.
Last one of the pomegranates to go under the needle tonight.
I'm still reflecting on how to get the branches into a whole tree with the background. I'll figure it out when I get there. I have faith that it will work out...

Love to see how you first make a raw sketch with the scraps, then you draw (?) on them with pen I think ... and finally the stitching ! It looks great Nadia !
But do I see it right: it there páper under it all ???
Let's see, first I begin with a piece of white fabric large enough to hold what I want to sketch, in this case, old men's shirts. Then I go outside and sketch lightly with pencil--mostly basic forms (squares, triangles, etc) to indicate the placement of fruit and leaves. Then I lay down the colored fabric scraps, stitch them down (by hand or machine), and go outside again to sketch with a permanent marker (on top of the colored scraps). Finally, I machine stitch the sketch and do thread painting. I will probably add hand stitching into the background.
Oh, yes. And I do use a couple of sheets of newsprint (very cheap) underneath when I sew to stabilize. Otherwise there's terrible buckling. BIG secret: I use a number 18 (rather large) on my sewing machine for the thread painting.
That is, a number 18 needle.
This clarifies a lot. Thanks.
