I've already been doing running stitch throughout to try to get it to hold together.
More stitching will be required. I wonder if I need to back this up. Will consider that later.

what if the running stitch is not only practical in the sense of binding but also a way of discovering the path through the labyrinth into the minotaur's lair or am I being too literal?
Yes, I agree. I go in different directions, sort of meandering through. I think of it more as confusion, getting lost in the labyrinth and facing danger.
I'm intrigued by your process--this is so complex and holds so much meaning. Wow! (left comment on class forum as well)
I like this especially where the machine stitching show on the lighter cloth. ...just wonderful.
