In my opinion, if you're going to take the time to stitch, it had best be visible.
I added a couple more circles and stitched into the wee hours, as usual.
However, I can't see much for my effort.
Yet, I do like white on white. I used an outline stitch because that's the stitch I like best and the raised effect is more visible. And, of course, a few French knots because I also like their raised effect. And a running stitch. The details please me, however, I'm not sure I like being so subtle...

i love these brocades too :) i used a rayon one on a piece a couple of years ago and found it best to use a tonal variation of the brocade and a slightly heavier thread or stitch to showcase both the thread and the fabric.

What about colored thread? Or even off white thread?
i always like circles coupled with rectangles and squares. and i like white on white. if you need a spot of color, what about stitching spirals in the circles in your favorite color thread or just stitching a few french knots in the center of the circles or even just stitching a row or two around the rim of each circle? or even colorful french knots in the center squares of the print of that top rectangle on the right?
love the layering of the textures and shadows that are developing it's the sense of touch that makes this piece work & this is one of the reasons I really don't like seeing cloth framed behind glass!
